It's a rotten world out there sometimes, and it's getting worse by the day, but there is hope and beauty out there, and these 3 new songs from the OYC (the first tracks available on CD) were recorded just before all the worry and paranoia really kicked in - (with great help on the trumpet from Allison Targett (essentially the 4th club member).

THE GLUE: Another tuneful rant against an ever-selfish, ill-informed Britain, too quick to grasp at any half certainties, in a rush for self-gain, and to leave any stragglers behind. ("The many drowning and the waving few, where is the glue that will hold us together?")

SPLINTERS: A humorous countrified post-it note to self. A song about how awful most of us can become if we are not careful, and that god (any god) will one day dispatch us all painlessly (one hopes) away from our evil alter-egos into a wonderful after-life... ("fighting a battle against a tide of evil - a losing battle on all fronts".)

KIDS AT SUMMER FESTIVALS: Seeing as there won't be any festivals to go to this year (2020) we thought we'd give you this instead. A nasty little (only half-joking) song written by Simon after the Bitter Springs played a set in front of 3 little children at a small festival. He tried his hardest not to swear. ("Come on and bring your kids out to the Summer Festivals, teach them how to get along, you wont be around forever, they're the future of this planet, or just a tiny island on it".).

Come on and bring your kids out to the Summer Festivals, teach them how to get along, you won't be around forever, they're the future of this planet, or just a tiny island on it.
